thirds.ai

UK SaaS that turns reusable HTML templates and brand kits into PDFs and images via studio, REST API, and MCP.

Parcialmente alojado en la UE

thirds.ai is a United Kingdom-operated SaaS for turning reusable HTML templates into branded PDFs and static images. Marketing, agency, and ops teams keep one layout (logo, fonts, colours, structure) and regenerate invoices, certificates, social posts, Open Graph cards, and reports when the data changes.

It exists for teams that outgrew one-off design exports and need the same file from a browser editor, a REST call, or an AI agent over MCP. The concrete differentiator is the shared template plus brand kit model: designers edit once, then code or agents fill fields without rebuilding the layout.

Shortlist when you need branded PDFs and images from one HTML template across a studio, REST API, and MCP agents, with primary hosting on Hetzner in Finland under a UK sole trader. Skip when you need URL-fetch conversion, self-hosting, or Office-template engines; consider PDFShift or Carbone-class tools instead for those jobs.

Key capabilities

Save HTML with {{placeholders}} and a JSON schema, then render A4/Letter (or custom) PDFs through the studio or POST /v1/pdf. Chromium lays out CSS, web fonts, and tables; one PDF can be up to 100 pages and 25 MiB. Failed renders do not spend a credit.

Render PNG, JPEG, or WebP at fixed widths and heights from the same templates for stories, thumbnails, Open Graph cards, and ads. Brand kits apply logo, colours, and fonts across designs so campaign variants stay consistent.

Authenticated REST endpoints cover PDF, image, templates, and batches. An HTTP MCP server at https://thirds.ai/mcp exposes tools such as render, save_template, create_batch, and brand-kit helpers for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, and other MCP clients.

Describe a layout in chat, paste HTML, or upload a still image to get an editable template, then refine in the visual editor. AI builds use separate credit rules from ordinary renders; content for AI builds is sent to OpenRouter and its model host.

Generate many files from one template version with per-row JSON or CSV. Plan tiers set the maximum rows per batch (from 10 on free up to 200 on Scale). Each successful file costs one credit; failed rows are not billed.

Best fit when

  • Teams that regenerate invoices, certificates, reports, or campaign images from one saved layout
  • Developers who already produce HTML or JSON data and want Chromium PDF/PNG output via API
  • Groups adopting AI agents that can call an MCP server with the same templates as humans
  • Agencies managing multiple client brand kits on shared report or invoice designs
  • Buyers who want primary app hosting on Hetzner in Finland with a public UK privacy/DPA trail

Poor fit when

  • Workflows that require the vendor to fetch a public page URL as the document source
  • Organisations that need self-hosted or VPC-only rendering
  • Buyers that forbid US-group backup, email, payments, OAuth, or AI model subprocessors
  • Teams whose templates live in Microsoft Word/LibreOffice rather than HTML
  • Procurement that requires published ISO 27001 or SOC 2 evidence (none claimed)

Consider instead when

  • When: You only need HTML or URL to PDF/PNG without a design studio or MCP

    Consider: PDFShift or DocRaptor

Pure conversion APIs; thirds.ai documents these tradeoffs on its compare pages.

  • When: Your source of truth is Office or document templates rather than HTML

Consider: Carbone or similar document engines

Better when designers work in DOCX/ODT pipelines.

  • When: You need open-ended creative design rather than data-filled repeats

    Consider: Canva-class design tools

thirds.ai targets repeatable branded outputs, not general design.

Considerations & known limitations

  • MediumUS-group subprocessors on backup, billing, and AI paths

Core hosting is Hetzner Finland, but Cloudflare R2 backups, Stripe, Resend, optional US OAuth, and OpenRouter model hosts create non-EU processing paths buyers must accept or avoid.

  • MediumAI template content may train model hosts

DPA and privacy state OpenRouter-selected model hosts may use template-builder content to improve models, with no EU/UK residency promise on that route.

  • LowSole trader operator, limited public corporate filing

Entity is described as an individual sole trader in England rather than a limited company on Companies House. Procurement teams that need a Ltd/GmbH counterparty should confirm contracting details.

  • MediumNo public ISO/SOC or independent audit

Security controls are described in detail, but the vendor does not claim a certificate and no independent audit report was found.

  • LowOutputs are not a long-term archive

Finished account files expire after 30 days. Teams must store their own copies of records that matter.

Open questions for due diligence

  • Will the vendor name the sole trader for contracts and invoice the legal name your counsel expects?
  • Which OpenRouter model hosts are used in practice, and can AI template building be disabled for sensitive tenants?
  • Can backup location or providers be constrained under a custom DPA for higher-assurance buyers?
  • Is there a roadmap for ISO 27001, SOC 2, or an independent penetration-test summary?

Preguntas Frecuentes

No. You send HTML text or reference a saved template_id with data. The product does not load a remote page URL for you, so your source page does not need to be publicly reachable. Absolute asset URLs in the HTML are fetched through a controlled gateway that blocks private and metadata destinations.

Live app, database, and file storage are on Hetzner in Finland. Backups use Cloudflare R2. Optional AI template building sends prompts, brand details, and source images to OpenRouter and a selected model host without an EU/UK residency promise; that host may train on the content. Account email, OAuth, and payments use Resend, GitHub/Google, and Stripe respectively.

Yes. A public DPA is published and can be requested for an account via support@thirds.ai. Render inputs are deleted when the job ends. Finished account PDFs and images are kept for 30 days unless deleted sooner. Template chats remain until you delete them or close the account. Anonymous playground outputs last one hour.

Yes, if your client supports MCP over HTTP with a bearer API key. Point the client at https://thirds.ai/mcp, then use tools such as render and get_status. The same templates and credits apply as in the REST API. Agents should confirm credit spend before calling paid tools.

Prefer a dedicated converter when you must pass a page URL, stream the PDF in the HTTP response body, export straight to your own object storage, or stay on an Office-template engine. thirds.ai is stronger when designers and developers share one editable template plus brand kit across app, API, and agents.
